A.A. and Boylove

Hi Mark, Officially, A.A. has no interests other than alcoholism and recovery of alcoholics. They were among the first to realise that alcoholism is a disease rather than a mere moral problem. It is because of A.A. that we now know as much as we do about the subject. Much to the relief of alcoholics around the world. However, I myself have an opinion about boylove and the possibility of it being a disease. I do not believe that it is a disease but rather (in many cases) a sexual orientation (I do not like to use the term "sexual preference" because the word "preference" implies choice, and I do not believe that we have a choice in this matter.) A disease is an illness that effects the body and/or the mind, but I do not see that boylove or pedophilia does this directly. The harm that I see most pedophiles or boylovers suffering comes as a direct result of societies understanding (lack of it) and prejudice. I do not see how a social reaction twords something would make it a disease. That is my own personal opinion but I have not formed it without looking at facts and as much information as I could find. Heather has been of great help to me indirectly by her own ongoing research on the subject. I will try to get back here later on today or perhaps tomorrow to go further in how the program of A.A. can help us boylovers as well. Your's in Christ's love, Chris |
