ABO - Your views are very interesting and are not completely agnostic in my view. I think that there are elements of true belief, particularly in your trusting in the Holy Spirit. As a fundamentalist myself (albeit a very new one) I have actually heard views in my church from very well educated (we are talking Ivy league), very scientific minds which actually allow scientific knowledge to fit perfectly into biblical history. For example, who is to say that a day or a week in the earlier times were the same span of time that they are today? In fact, if God created light on the first day, what was to separate that day out into 24 hours? All scientific facts can exist within the context of God's presence on earth, though clearly the woman that you spoke to was too simple minded to know this. She robotically clings to her faith. Your views that God and Jesus can expand far beyond the normal comprehension of simple human detection speak of a very strong faith. Indeed, God's presence on earth is stupidly simple for him, but it also shows how much he loves the earth to not interfere more. God knows that men need to seek him, not just have God pop down in his face. On the other hand, Jesus' very purpose was to give us a graspable window into God through a mortal man and therefore the fact that Jesus might before or after have transcended our comprehension is an unimportant point. I do believe that God has given man, through the bible and through his work in our lives, everything that man needs to have a great life. The problem of course is that people don't take advantage of the opportunity. They cling to the comfortable humanistic view that none of it is possible. Yet look how wonderful our world is today :/ You are not alone.
