That's what I want more than anything. I want to make a difference in the lives of kids. I know there are a lot of ways to do that, teaching, mentoring, pastoring, boy scouts, just to name a few.
For the last few years I have been feeling very strongly that the way that I was meant to help kids is through child psychology. I will be starting college next Fall most likely, and I'm pretty sure I will choose to major in psychology. But that's kind of a scary thought to me. If I were a camp counselor, etc. like Don, it seems to me like I could be more sure, more guaranteed to make a real difference. But as a child psychologist... what can I do? Will I be too limited by needing to maintain purely professional relationships with the patients? Can a psychologist really get close to a patient in such a way as to make a lasting impression and be a true hero, like Don is to "N"? I don't know the answers to any of these... yet I feel compelled to go that route anyway.
I know I would be good at it, it seems to come natural to me (psychology stuff, playing the role of the counselor, drawing out deep thoughts and feelings from kids, gaining kids' love and trust without even needing to try, etc.)
I just hope and trust that it's God leading me in that direction. I guess that's all I can do at this point.

Tim
