Btw, you should know from my time with Josh that I use Christians generically when talking about the Bible. (I started to correct that but figured you would know so I didn't.) Let me see if I got this right now. Correct me if I've misunderstood something along the way. What you are saying is that Lucifer gave the Israelites the "Promised Land" under the conditions that they kill everyone and everything in their path. They do so and settle in the "Promised Land" still finding favor in the eyes of the Lord!? Well, actually I can see how the Lord wouldn't mind Lucifer leading his people to the "Promised Land" since his original choice was a murderer. Never mind. The answer to the million dollar question is: Moses doesn't know...but God does. And, if his people are so easily led astray by Lucifer, why does God still consider them "the chosen ones"? Considering history at the point of the Exodus, there were many other peoples who were much more intelligent, more productive, more worthy of a God like him than this band of murderous vagabonds. Could it be that these uneducated, simple people were the only ones who would follow him without even attempting to understand why his commands were so contradictory and without emotion? As for the Jonah/Ninevah story, are you sure you want to bring that up? I had to read through it several times before I could make any sense of it...and still don't really think I understand a lot of it. It makes no sense. Why was Jonah mad at God in the first place and why did he want to die? Did he go there to preach the "wrath of God" or did he go there to tell them that they were doomed and leave? And, if he just went there to tell them that they were doomed, why didn't he leave? Then there's the part where it says that Ninevah was 3 days journey away but Jonah entered it after only one day. Was that a miracle or a human error? *oh boy* |
