Wasn't it Shakespeare who said, "Music hath charm to soothe the savage breast."? Although I am in my late sixties, I still enjoy playing and singing… hymns the best. Some of the modern Christian music doesn't have as much appeal to me as the older ones, although there are some very good messages in the new music to appeal to younger Christians. I was in a quartet with some of my coworkers, and we often sang hymns. We sang at retirement parties, and always made a point of singing a hymn as our closing number. One of the members often said, "When you're singing, you ain't mad at nobody!" Glad I pricked your memory. Andy |
