BL in the early Christian Church

I am sending this message to people who are interested in the history of the early church. I understand that for the first 300 years the Chuch developed as a Gnostic Christian church. After the council of Nicea a power structure developed and the orthodox church as we now know it started to develop. To gain the upper hand the orthodox then started the most gruesome persecution of the Gonstic christians. As the Gnostics did not totally adhere to what was decided by Constantine, who wasn't even a pope,(the Creed etc.) they were declared heretics until this day, they were murdered, sacreficed in the cicusses, their books burned etc. They were wiped out. So much for Love. (See the book on the Gnostics by Eileen Pagels) However I finally come to my question. The Gnostics were also accused of "immoral behaviour" with boys and it is rumoured that BL was widespread and an accepted culture amongst the Gnostic Christians. Does anybody have any knowledge and information about this?? |
