Generational Curses Revisited

Submitted by Chris on August 17 1999 at 17:24:31

Hi Everyone,

I was asked if I had resurched the subject of generational curses, and to tell you the truth, no, not much. I remembered reading that particular story about Jesus in John 9 not too long ago. But, although the words of my Savior are always enough for me, I DID do some research on this subject. (I just love a good study Bible, don't you?) Here is what I've found out so far.

I looked in Ezekiel first:
"Yet you ask,"Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?" Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him."
Ezekiel 18: 19-20

From there I went to Job:
"It is said, 'God stores up a man's punishment for his sons.' Let him repay the man himself, so that he will know it!"
Job 21: 19

I am pretty sure there are more references the same as these two but I think you can get the point. I say again, God does NOT punnish generations of people for the sins of thier fathers or grandfathers or greatgrandfathers...etc. I would be very interested in seeing proof otherwise, I couldn't find it in my Bible.

Your's in Christ's Love,
Chris
