Hey Jim - Good to see you around....maybe even quite a bit :) For someone who has so adamently discounted religion as something outdated and archaic, you seem to be heavily bothered by all of the religious flaming. Is there possibly an element of belief that you won't admit to? I'm not trying to bait you....just trying to help you sort through the much. If you completely don't believe in God, then the flames of SGFTNW should be of no consequence or interest to you. They are based on a premise that you don't even accept. However, if you DO believe in God, and I feel that deep down you ARE a spiritual person, then you've got to sort out what is real. Romans 12 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. [3] Do not be conceited. 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," [4] says the Lord. 20On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." [5] In this part of Romans, Paul is making it clear that our role is not to judge others, but to love others and live in harmony with them. Whether or not it is okay for you to do certain things with your body is between you and God, not between you and those who would judge you. There is only one judge. I would still be open to trying to dig into what God wants from your life. The purpose and plan for my life has become so evident now, with God in my life, that I can only believe that God also has a plan for you. But I know that I would never have found that plan by running around chasing after cute boys. I had to make huge sacrifices, and do really uncomfortable things in denying myself and "taking up my cross", so to speak. But my life is changing so drastically, in a way that ONLY God could have made happen. I can't imagine what would be if I were still lost. At the end of the day, it is ALWAYS between you and God. Don't let any other Christian tell you otherwise. Just be sure that you are not creating God the way that YOU want him to be :) You are not alone. Ben |
