Oops, I thought this was CBF. :) I agree heartily, both because every instance I've seen of this type of interaction has resulted in spiritual growth for the members of CBF and also because it would be unChristlike not to reach out to others.

CBF is in a terrible position – it's a support group for hurting people, some of whom have been severely damaged by anti-Christian rhetoric, who are being asked to reach out to those who are opposed to Christianity (or at least ambiguous toward it). Frankly, having watched the threads between Christian and nonChristian boylovers at CBF, I can't think of any better therapy for the Christian boylovers. Being hurt, and then reaching out to those who resemble the attackers (at least on the surface), should be the base of Christian conduct.

RDC has already set an example in this regard: originally it started as a place for hostile Christian nonboylovers to flame nonChristian boylovers, and vice versa, yet from the very beginning civilized discussions about Christianity and alternatives to Christianity have taken place on a board that consists to a large extent of religious abuse survivors. This sort of outreach is very encouraging.

I don't think that there's much danger of CBF being overwhelmed by debates over the worth of Christianity – I think that by this point the character of CBF has been established, and the interior discussions between Christians are likely to remain dominant. I do think that the usual no-flames policy should remain in effect, but I think that we should make an effort to apply this policy evenly, judging criticisms of Christian beliefs by nonChristians in the exact same manner as we do criticisms of Christian beliefs by Christians. I know that I for one have failed to do this in the past.
