Hi Faith, Prayer is a very powerful asset we as Christians have going for us. But how often do we pray, and for what do we pray, and, literally, HOW do we pray. I have had to ask myself this a lot lately. For so long I was not able to pray, I think because I just didn't feel worthy enough or something. But I have a good friend now, Andy, who reminds me to pray every time he writes. And it has worked too! I always think about prayer now and finding more time for it. I'm not perfect at it,that's for sure, but still, I do pray. I love this story because I see it a little bit diffeently perhaps. The one man, who recieved all of those things, who THOUGHT itwas his prayers being answered, he prayed for selfish reasons. He was thinking only of himself. I think maybe this is a big reason why God would not grant his prayers on his merrit alone. However, the man's prayers WERE granted because God loves to grant prayers that are UNselfish, like the one prayer of the other man. I think it is very important to try never to pray for our own selfish wants, but rather, to pray for God's will in our lives (which is ultimately unselfish), or to pray for God's will in other's lives. I have found this to be the best way to pray. Thankyou for sharing that really good story. Love, Chris |
