Chris -
This is a great point. Any guilt that we still bear after being forgiven and repenting is psychological guilt rather than Godly guilt.

One of the problems that I run into is the difficulty in repenting of and confessing some sins. We tend to repeat sins that are deeply engrained into our character, and we try to be realistic about our repentence. For example, it is unrealistic for me to confess that I had lustful thoughts about a cute boy that I saw and to claim that I will never do it again. It would be a lie for me to say that I will never do it again. As I examine this further, I realize that I am really lacking in faith that I even CAN change this sin. And with THIS lack of faith and lack of a willingness to give up the sin, comes guilt. But guilt will only drag me down and discourage me. Indeed, it is a very useful tool for Satan to have a grip on my confidence. I need to lay my guilt down at Jesus' feet and turn to HIM for new found confidence that, with God's help, I can change anything.

Thanks for this post, Chris. You are awesome.

Your bro in Christ,
Ben
