Best place to start in the word is John 3:16. Best person to talk to here about using the Word to overcome personal issues is probably Ben, but I haven't seen him in awhile. In times past when I've been lust-filled, distractions have worked for me. They may not work for you. Thing's I've done. Listening to the radio and mentally repeating every word or note in your head. Do something fast-paced, like watch a basketball game on TV. Something I didn't try but I think would work for me as a distraction: Be around a COPY of the object of my lust. If I'm lusting after an adult, look at and spend time with a similar-age/gendered adult who is MARRIED or otherwise unavailable. Wedding rings work wonders on defusing any lustful feelings I might have. If your lust is boys, my guess is a boy with a girlfriend or a young boy you know would run to his parents at the first sign of inappropriate behavior can count as "unavailable" for this purpose. If you are obsessive (be it lust or otherwise), consider seeing a psychologist. -David ("d") |
