I am not sure

It is one of the lessons that the monastic movement offers us that if we take our eyes from the goal of calling that we have, then we have already half lost the battle to stay celibate.

Hi forgiven,

I presume that you mean to not be faithful in our celibacy. It was not my intention to tempt people in linking to these stories. In and of itself the goal of celibacy could mean different things to each of us:

1. celibacy in boylove= no relationships with minors, but sexual contact with adults is permitted

2. celibacy in interpersonal relationships= that is, no sexual relationships with anyone else

3. celibacy within one's own self= no masturbation, no sexual fantasy, just meditation on God

Myself, I do not feel that God calls me to this third option. Therefore, "being faithful to the calling that we have" probably means something different to me than for others who participate at this board.

The alternative is to focus on the reality of God, finding him concrete in the hard times of loneliness and pain in our lives and thereby become channels for His grace into others' lives.

I have had much lonliness and pain in my life. Probably no more than anyone else who posts here, however. But for my life, I want to share it with someone. I need a special person to share that love that God has placed in my heart, permitting me to be a channel for His love in others' lives. Therefore, I believe sincerely that God blesses the relationship and allows me to grow and flourish in His love.

Peace of Christ,
Bach
