But they go much further beyond that

Indeedy they do! I followed the link to the Liberated Christians site that Bach provided, which was specifically about child sexuality. Then I took a look at their main site at www.libchrist.com. I really don't know how to describe my reaction to this site. I'm not easily offended, but I think that's probably the best description. Apparently the Bible teaches that partner-swapping is an appropriate expression of our human potential for sexuality. Actually, I'm not offended so much as I am outraged at the claims they're making about biblical scholarship and the history of doctrine. I have never witnessed such a brazen misrepresentation of facts.

I'll limit my comments to two of the points they make at the page Bach linked to.

5. The Christian church has created doctrines to support its negative attitudes to sexuality and civil governments have created corresponding laws to enforce the moral values enshrined in these doctrines. These doctrines and laws are not founded on true biblical teachings and in fact contribute to a physical and spiritual bondage by inhibiting the full potential of our humanity in its sexual aspect.

The assertion that the Church "created doctrines to support its negative attitudes" seems just a trifle circular to me. We are supposed to believe that the Church created beliefs to support its negative beliefs. But where did these negative attitudes come from in the first place? According to the "liberated" Christians, they did not come from "true biblical teachings." I guess they must have been a part of the culture which existed before Christianity (or Judaism, for that matter) and that were never called into question by the Church. But wait a minute! That means that the cultural norms that existed before God's specific revelation must have been negative. And yet, non-Christian cultural norms are exactly what these "liberated" Christians appeal to in an attempt to discredit the traditional (i.e. "negative") Christian teachings. I must be pretty deep in denial, because I just don't get it.

10. The most serious sexual problem in our society is not premarital sex, unwanted teen pregnancies or even AIDS; it is the failure to accept our children's sexuality and teach them to accept it and enjoy it responsibly.

In fact, I think that the most serious sexual problem in our society is none of the above. I think the most serious sexual problem in our society is the belief that I have the right to gratify my every desire, sexual or non-sexual, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody who isn't a masochist. "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" is a pretty neat slogan, but it's no foundation for a civilization. As a Christian, the call that I answered was one that sounded something like, "Take up your cross and follow Me." Maybe I was hearing things, but I pray that none of us ever hears, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:23)
