Fear, repentance, and love: Part II

This evening I went to see the movie Magnolia.

Wow.

The language in the first bit of the film is rather coarse, and the persona adopted by the character portrayed by Tom Cruise is vile, but at the end of the three hours, I was glad I didn't get up and walk out. The only other movie which has had a similar emotional impact on me was The Crying Game. (I'm glad I went to see it alone.) There's also a lot going on with visual cues, and the layering of the soundtrack is brilliant. Forget Pulp Fiction -- Magnolia blew that away, and without the extreme violence.

And for all you boylovers, yes, there is a boy (Or was he an angel? I'm a little confused on that point.) who appears near the beginning and near the end. It's a small role, but he is more important than he seems. I'd really like to see his rap lyrics written out...
