Dear Gideon: Will we see this happen? I think not... If you are implying that all [every last person on the face of the earth] will get to heaven, you have read the scripture incorrectly. That passage is found in II Peter 3:8,9. "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" You will note that v8 starts with 'but, beloved'. Who are the beloved? Are they not the fellow believers, as Peter is writing to believers. God is not willing that His free gift bestowed upon us will come to nothing. Compare that to Romans 8:28-30. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." Is not God totally involved in our salvation. Brother this is the great comfort. If one part was dependent on me or you, what hope would we have. May God be praised forever, amen. Brother, I have done much searching over the scriptures over the 20+ years since becoming a believer. And this truth I did not want to accept, but let me tell you that it becomes a great comfort, and hope. Love in Christ, Compassion. |
