Hey Musicman1953: Good words! My favourite verse in that passage is "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12,13. Why? Simply because we have to remember who were Jesus friends. Those disciples who would run and hide after he was arrested. This type of love we are to have for our bretheren. That does not simply mean those who are always nice to us, but those who are brethern in the Lord. If someone is a christian than we are to Love them in Christ dispite how they treat us. We are to delight in going to church to meet the brethern, and rejoice in the Lord together in His mercy. To me this means a lot. I have messed up greatly and have offended some dear brothers [sisters included] of mine, but yet they are commanded to love me. Likewise I am commanded to love those who offend me. The key of course is are they brethern [do they love the Lord]. Wow, may God strengthen us to love each other as He loves us. Love in Christ, Compassion. |
