I can think of a couple of other ways the Spirit works, too. Namely, leading and guiding us, as a counsellor. That's Jn 16, isn't it? Or is it Jn 15? Somewhere around there. And you see him acting that way with Jesus too, as in "The Spirit led Jesus out into the wilderness, where he fasted 40 days". Those I suppose you could count that as part of the "Indwelling" work if you want to keep things simple.

That book sounds good. I should go look for it. The name sounds familiar. It's exciting thinking about what the Spirit does in us and with us.

Actually, if I can change tack slightly, in some ways I find the whole schism between conservative Christians and charismatic/pentecostal believers completely amusing. To me it seems deadly obvious that the Spirit of God has a active role in shaping us and helping us serve God, despite protestations of conservative preachers, and it seems deadly obvious that he has his own agenda on what form that role and service will take, not necessarily the agenda that some pentecostal preachers would have it to be.

I remember back when I was 14 going to camp, a Christian camp. I was hanging out with the leaders, they were praying. And I remember praying and thanking God for giving us his Spirit, and the leaders later smiled and patted me on the shoulder for my prayer. It only occured to me later that maybe their odd reaction came because I was slicing straight through the middle of the charismatic controversy, which had started about then but about which I didn't yet know anything.

well anyway, all the best,
