Hi Don, I guess you can tell when I have a lot of time on my hands....you get to see my name plastered all over this forum! Anyways.... I have a little experience with the Mormons because my YF has been indoctrinated in thier church (because his mom made him), and is now having to decide what is truth and what is false teaching. It hasn't been a lot of fun, but I HAVE gotten quite an education about the Mormon beliefs. First of all, Mormonism is NOT Christian. They do not share with Christians thier most basic beliefs. I would love to explain this in detail, but I am gong to have to dig up my books on the subject. Thier religion actually resembles a cult more than a religion. But it is one of THE largest religious organisations in the world...and growing. If you don't mind, let me find my material (there are a lot of good publications about Mormonism and The Later Day Saints. And a lot of it can be found at your local Christian bookstore....I found it under "cults".). And with all of that, a parting note... If you think I am being "too hard" on the Mormons, please consider this. I have had to watch as my YF was indoctrinated into thier church, and thier carefully worded lies. I am now trying to turn him around (which has become more difficult because he has lost some interest in me just lately). This has not been a fun or easy task, either. Because, on the surface, the Mormon's look like just another Christian denomination. Let me assure you, they are absolutely not. Now I am not saying that I do not know some VERY nice, and VERY devout Mormons, because almost without exception, the Mormon people that I know or have met, have been among the very nicest of folks...always! But that doesn't mean that thier basic beliefs are right on. I will be back to do a discussion on this if you like. Your's in Christ's Love, Chris |
