Have either of you guys read Being as Communion: Studies in Personhood and the Church by John Zizioulas? It was published in English by St. Vladimir's Seminary Press in 1985. I don't remember when His Grace originally wrote it. Another excellent book is Knowing the Name of God: A Trinitarian Tapestry of Grace, Faith & Community by Roderick T. Leupp, published by InterVarsity Press in 1996. T. F. Torrance and Colin Gunton have done a lot in relating Trinitarian thought to the questions of personhood and ethics. I've read several books by each of them, but none so recently that they stand out as must-reads. I'd say that pretty much anything by either of them will be worth the price of the book. Another book which might be worth lookng at is Persons, Divine and Human: King's College Essays in Theological Anthropology edited by Christoph Schwöbel and Colin Gunton. This might be difficult to locate in North America, since it was published by T & T Clark in Scotland, and apparently nowhere else. I've read through a few of the essays, but there just isn't time to read everything. And of course, all the theory in the world is useless if not put into practice... Dirk |
