Hi Don Just my little contribution....invited by FOD The folks on my Father's side of the family, were Mormons of the Reorganized variety....ie they did not follow Brigham Young to Utah... and managed to make peace in the Ohio area. I was given the option...at 7yo (by my Dad) to continue with church... and I chose not to go with Grandma, and be a good Mormon........... hehehe...couldnt pass up those Sunday mornin Cartoons.... I forgot much about the Reorganized Church, but I *do* remember that Christ was a large part of their teaching, and that they considered themselves Christian.....using the KJV of the bible. They were Monogamous.......not that I care. I was attracted to the Brigham Young church a little over 6 years ago... I studied the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine & Covenants....and eventually was Baptized.....I was accepted into the Aaronic Priesthood as are all males beginning at 8 years old.....they lumped me with the kids....heeheheheh....well, then I was in heaven and Hell at the same time, since I despised my own attractions to the Boys.......and it was basicly the reason I finally quit the Church.....that and the Bishop and his Reps coming to my door.....and trying to fix me up with the single Females of the Church, declaring that it was not right that I live alone... Jeepers....what a bunch of Busybodies....and as I remember it...so wasnt my Grandma, and the people in her Church...... I agree a lot with what Chris has said....but I think you will find that Mormons are very Christ Oriented, and I dont recall ever being told he was a mere man.....also....today's Mormons are quite Monogamous. The hardest thing to swallow about Mormonism, is accepting that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and was Baptized by John the Baptist in America, in 1829. Once accepted, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants becomes valid....... This takes a lot of Faith my brothers......I failed -@midnite- PS...y'all might also pester Boybuddy for his insight into the church |
