Importance of Baptism

Sheesh - Jesus actually was quite clear on the need for baptism in order to go to heaven: John 3:5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. With this said, God certainly has the option to send whoever he wants to heaven. Many people believe that God will have mercy on many others besides those who are baptised. Jews actually don't need baptism because they are "justified by the law" if they follow it. The good news is that you, like those who realized after Peter's famous speech in Acts, can certainly make the decision to make Jesus, Lord and to be baptized. Acts 2 36"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." 37When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. You are not alone. Ben |
