Who or what are we, anyway?

Submitted by Chris on February 07 2000 at 21:22:30

Hi All....

I think this must be the very "root" question asked by so many new folks when they first come here. If it isn't asked, then I will bet it is on thier mind, in fact, I'll bet it's something ALL of us has asked ourselves plenty of times. What kind of answers do we normally come up with? Usually the likes of,"I am a boylover", "I am a pedophile", or "I am a dirty, rotten, discusting pedophile", or the like. Of course, some will come right up with,"I am a Christian", but then, so often, end it with something like,"but I am STILL a discusting pedophile"...or something like that. After reading some very inspiring posts today, I got into my Bible and I decided to do a post about this topic. Who or what are we?

If we listen to what the world says we are, then we easily come up with words such as "discusting" or "bad, rotten, etc, etc, etc". This is what satan and the world that follows him, want us to believe. Satan would just love us to think this way, because it takes our focus off the love and truth of God. It can make our walk with God almost nil. I have found it much better to constantly try to see myself as God see's me...which is the truth. And how does God see me? Who or what does HE say I am? Check this out:

Satan's lie,
You are a sinner because you sometimes sin.

God's Truth,
You are a Saint, one declared righteous by God, who sometimes sins. Eph. 1:1

Satan's Lie,
You get your identity from what you have done.

God's Truth,
You get your identity from what God has done for you. Col. 1: 13-14

Satan's Lie,
You get your identity from what people say about you.

God's Truth,
You get your identity from what God says about you.
Eph. 1:5

Satan's Lie,
Your behavior tells you what to believe about yourself.

God's Truth,
Your belief about yourself determines your behavior.
Eph. 2:10

Read your Bible folks, God has a LOT of good to say about us....His children! By reading and believing, you will be a lot less likely to go around feeling like the lies satan wants you to believe about yourself. Remember, the devil will stop at nothing to turn us into un-effective Christians, just walking around feeling bad about ourselves, feeling defeated. We are absolutly NOT defeated....the devil is! Our Lord defeated him AND his lies at the cross! Praise God!!!

Love,
Chris
