As Bach indicated in his post, the opinions about baptism are many and varied. It's ironic that this issue should have become a reason for separation between Christians, when St. Paul mentioned baptism as one of the elements of "the unity of the Spirit" in Ephesians 4. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph. 4:4-6 Anyway, for a discussion of baptism from another perspective, take a look at this article. Although I understand the appeal of the Vegas option [grin] most pastors will want to make sure you understand "the faith" before they will baptise you. I really can't give you any more helpful advice than others already have. It's unfortunate that most Christians are too conformed to the spirit of the world to welcome the outcast and "sinner". Dirk |
