In my opinion it's quite reasonable to use masturbation as a means of regulating the sex drive. I think most here agree with that. One of us views it more negatively, and I hope he'll share his insights into the matter more deeply. Someone recently wrote about how he thinks you should see masturbation as something special and private between you and God, and I quite like that way of looking at it. I think I agree with you that there is a danger in that which Jesus said "Whoever looks at a girl with lustful intent ['whoever undresses her with his eyes'] is guilty of adultery". I think the idea there is that fantasisation can be become dangerous. But I think it's possible to enjoy masturbation as a private thing for its own sake, without bringing lustful fantasies into it. Maybe try working on that? Being more conscious of doing it as a special thing between you and God, so that any 3rd party would only be in the way? About the Bible and masturbation, some people like to think that the story of Onan in Genesis is talking about masturbation. But it's not, no way, it's about something completely different. I agree the Bible is silent on masturbation. Don't let the subject of masturbation drive you into despair. It's an issue we all face. F.O.D. |
