'They have a right to avoid suffering'. This is a sub Christian belief which we need to show as not consistent with the Bible, which clearly argues that suffering is a means of testing for Christians and, as a foretaste of the nature of Hell, a means of warning to non Christians to repent and turn to God 'lest something worse happen to you' as Jesus expresses it in Luke 13.

We have to be careful using this argument. Yes, the Bible says we will suffer, but that does not justify our causing other people's suffering. This argument could have been used 50 years ago by conservative Christians to justify the oppression of blacks, and may be used now by some to sooth their consciences about their treatment of gays.

‘Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve’.

This sounds like Rush Limbaugh theology to me. I could also say that God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Latonya, and therefore interracial marriages are sinful. In fact, the conservatives at Bob Jones University apparently still think they are.
