A final point: if the liberals are right and the conservatives are wrong, I will have lived a few decades somewhat more miserably than was necessary. But if the conservatives are right and the liberals are wrong and I chose to enter a gay relationship, I?m risking my eternal salvation. Really I don?t think it?s worth the risk ;-)

forgiven,

you're saying here that your salvation depends on you correctly grasping the finer details of theology. Do you really consider the cross of Christ such a cheap thing? Is the love of God in sending Jesus to die for us weaker than the strength of our mind's ability to understand God's will? The power of the resurrection is the power to pull a man out of death, it is complete forgiveness for all he has done and all he will do.

If the Baptists are right that baptism is for adults, does that mean all catholics, anglicans and others are risking their eternal salvation for baptising infants? If speaking in tongues is a glorious way to worship God, does that mean any conservative evangelical is risking his eternal salvation for forbidding it?

Christ calls us to freedom, and part of that freedom is the freedom to be wrong. It is in fact this very freedom that provides us the liberty to become right in our thinking. Of course we will diligently study the scriptures and strive to find right thinking out of love and fear of God. But if we happen to get it wrong - the cross of Christ is stronger than our weakness.

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:33-34 (please excuse the "eths")

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Nothing, nothing can separate us from God's love, not even our own mistakes. Thank God.

If we are faithless, yet he is faithful, for he cannot deny himself 2 Tim 2:13

Peace brother,

F.O.D.
