One of the joys of my life is that there are a significant number of people (probably about 25) both within my own church and among Christian friends about the world who know all about me and still care for me and treat me as a friend. That reveals a depth of true love that makes me proud to be a Christian. What do you have to offer us instead?

"You obviously see adult-child sex as merely unfashionable sin"
Oh dear - minus one Pharisee point for using Christian jargon.
1) All crimes are sins (almost - lets not debate the contents of dumblaws.com)
2) There are sins that are not crimes (e.g. adultery)
3) To offend against God is a far worse thing to do than an offence against a person.
Therefore: my phrasing was not intended to diminish the seriousness of what I did, but try to place it in a wider context. In ancient Greek society Boy love was entirely acceptable and normal. So was slavery. Neither has a lot to commend it to modern minds, but how do we begin to judge. Abortion was generally condemned - see the original Hippocratic oath - but these days it is considered entirely legitimate. What is the basis for your condemnation of us the "subjective values that we all carry with us" ?

"But how are the boys blessed?"

OK so you don't like the word blessed - let's try help, encouraged?
I've had a solid non sexualised relationship with a straight kid who is now 19; I've know him 5 years or so. We're friends - enjoying each other's comapny, discussing things, watching videos together. It's like any other friendship except there's a slightly greater age gap and there are elements in my past and present which make me generally an object of hatred and fear. Yet he knows where I'm coming from and has said in an email from college 'I'm glad you've been in my life for the past 5 years'. The point is that we're willing to spend time with kids to an extent greater than most people. With that guy I was really worried that he wasn't straight and that things could go in a direction that I didn't want. In fact he is straight and we've talked about it and he's totally accepted me despite THE ISSUE.

You can't cope with me? On the whole I'm not that concerned - what God thinks of me is a whole lot more significant. The promise of everlasting life demonstrated by the reality of the resurrection is far more important than the views of the vocal majority.

But thanks for dropping by - you've done us a real service by getting the board moving - it had been getting a little slow recently. There's a thought - you've been really helpful to a load of people you really hate...

Perhaps an example of God's sense of humour?!
