Like Forgiven, had it not been for the grace of God, I would been deeper than ever into pornography and self indulgence. I would be horribly lonely, depressed and would have zero hope for a great future. I would be so tremendously jealous of my siblings who were getting married and having families, that I would most likely move to some isolated place where I could just live in my own sin. Whether or not there is a heaven, I have truly been saved already.

To answer your question about biblical references here are just a few about baptism into Christ and dying to oneself:

Romans 6:3

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

1 Corinthians 12:13

For we were all baptized by [1] one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

1 Corinthians 15:29

Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?

Colossians 3:3

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Matthew 10:39

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Mark 8:34

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and
follow me.
