Ford, Do you happen to know what caused Henri Nouwen's spiritual anguish? I had known of The Wounded Healer from almost 20 years ago, but haven't kept up with others of his writings. Just reading the first few "spiritual imperatives" from your pages reminded me of my experiences 11 years ago when a YF friend broke off the friendship. I still haven't gotten through that to put the gleanings in a form that might help someone else! How was it stated -- something about being too "needy" that people who cared had to back away! Finding a "center/source" outside yourself! The "imperatives" seem to be exploring the depths of human spirit! I'm tempted to get the book, but probably will hold off for a while! Ray |
