Yeah, I've been there. Found myself thinking "I wonder what you'd say if only you knew...". But, Ford, if the praise is indeed genuine, would it really come any differently if the praiser "really knew"? How could it be? If the praise is genuine, the praise is genuine no matter what other people think of you, no matter what you think of yourself.

Perhaps you should ask yourself: if the praiser really knew you would they with-hold the praise that is deservedly yours? Would they lie to you? Tell you you're a wretch when really you're not?

About that person you're looking for? The one who can give you what you want? You know: acceptance? Well...
