Since there may be varying individual definitions of the term "Age of Attraction", I'll begin saying that to me it means the most likely age of a boy who will elicit an involuntary "What a beautiful boy!" response from me. For me that has been and remains 12 to 14. However, over the years I've found that response evoked more often in me by boys and young men in mid-teens, late teens, even early twenties. Since I've been working with younger boys lately, and have come to appreciate them, I've found beauty (rather than just cuteness) in them too. The most valuable lesson I've learned though is not to ignore a boy or girl simply because he (or certainly she) does not command that instant response. Many of my most cherished young friends now are those I wasn't immediately attracted to. ---Ford |
