Today He who suspended the earth in the midst of the waters is hung upon the Tree. He who is the King of angels is crowned with a crown of thorns. He who wrapped the Heavens with clouds is wrapped about with the purple of mockery. He who freed Adam in the Jordan received buffetings from the hands which He created. The Son of the Virgin is affixed to the Cross with nails. We worship Thy passion, O Christ. Show us also Thy glorious Resurrection. Thy Cross, O Lord, is life and resurrection to Thy people, and trusting in it we praise Thee, our crucified Lord; do Thou have mercy upon us. * * * * * * * If I have offended anyone here, please forgive me. |
