Hello Bach Just dropping in to say 'thank you' for your welcoming e-mail. I was a bit reticent about putting up my message/request in a support group board as it may not be a welcome intrusion. Non contact paedophiles are totally ignored in other people's concetualisations of paedophilia/child lovers, I think largely because such men have been 'othered' to an extreme. This is despite suggestions from history and empirical evidence (as well as anecdotal evidence from current society)that this 'otherness' serves a social function rather than convey a statement of any 'fact'. A failure to conceptualise paedophilia as a sexuality does not permit people to entertain the idea of 'celibacy' and also provides the rationale for not asking about the personal experiences of those who are attracted to younger members of society. Consequently, literature is based on contact paedophiles (usually aggressive) who are incarcerated. The result is that the majority of the paedophile population is ignored, and a fixed and limited approach to understanding this attraction is adopted. I hope to break this tradition. I shall end this message by reiterating my original approach: If anyone would like to talk to me about the work (by posting questions up or by e-mail) I shall gladly respond with full answers. I shall not be asking any legally or ethically problematic questions - it is your personal experience that I am interested in. This includes a variety of areas such as life histories, perceptions/concepts of self and others, how your sexuality as changed your life, how others have treated you, what it is like to have a forbidden attraction and so forth.
