To affirm that Jesus was tempted "in every way" as we are is not to say that he was tempted "by every possible sin." An acquaintance of mine died of a heroin overdose a few years ago. I know that Christ was not tempted to shoot up because neither intravenous needles nor heroin itself had been invented during the time of His incarnation. That doesn't mean that He is unable to sympathize with junkies, though. (Perhaps an equivalent temptation that He did face was habitual drunkenness.) Similarly, the fact that He is fully human means that He experienced sexual temptation. I don't think it means that He was tempted to engage in every possible sexual sin known to humanity. Dirk |
