Scott, Ours is a world with suffering. I don't know why the Creator chose to have it this way....I just trust in his wisdom.....but I do know he also chose to share it with us. Jesus has full compassion for us in our suffering because he experienced it himself.....as do we all. We can find the meaning, the good, the hidden joy of it when we unite our suffering with that of Jesus and the rest of humanity. That can bring us to compassion for others, since we know they suffer too. If we just compare our suffering to that of others, it can lead instead to bitterness, vengefulness and despair. Because I too have suffered the loss of dear friendships....which seemed to me to be more valuable than anything else....I can understand and share your pain. Without that experience, I could only offer sterile and academic words. God does love you Scott....rather than sending us pain and suffering, he shares it with us. Each of us is God's beloved child, on whom his favor rests. Peace, ---Ford |
