Must be the right basis for the decision; if the parent initiates the invitation - no problem. If the kid does, check it with the parent. If it is OK with them, there's really no other authority involved. The tendency to second guess parents is one of the less attractive aspects of the present policies. But the point about being visible is well made - one of the best pieces of guidance in the British Child Protection legislation is to avoid ever being alone with a kid; it is just asking for trouble. |
