When in Rome

Hi all --

Here's a multiple-choice quiz ...

When in Rome, you should:
  1. Kiss the Pope's foot
  2. Cruise the boys who hang out on the Spanish Steps
  3. Do as the Romans do
The correct answer is, of course, number 3. (Numbers 1 & 2 are strictly optional, and not for the faint-hearted. :)

So, when I consort with male-minor-attracted males I use labels like "boy lover" and "BL". I've never liked these labels, but I use them in order to be understood (and to avoid endless arguments about labels).

I sympathize with Ford Prefect: when I hear someone characterized as a "fundamentalist Christian" or as an "evangelical Christian" or as a "conservative Christian" I'm never sure what these labels really mean.

Are Catholics "fundamentalist Christians"? They certainly insist that their church is the "foundation" of Christianity.

Are Mormons "evangelical Christians"? They certainly evangelize more vigorously (and effectively) than any other group of Christians.

Are Pat Buchanan and Jerry Falwell "conservative Christians"? Oops ... one's a Catholic and the other's a Baptist.

Hmmm. I hate labels.
