Hi tj,

You are right. Life on this little blue ball is a bowl of cherries. But no one told me they were sour :)

I tend to think of the Earth as a "wilderness--a baren wasteland" that I, as a pilgrim, am just passing through. My home is in Heaven, not here. But God put me here to show me humility, and force me to depend on Him.
The Bible is my guidebook through this wilderness.

I think the misconception is that being a Christain means being "tied to a ball or chain of do's and don'ts." As one pastor put it I know. The same sermon went on to say that:

"There are certain commandments God expects us to follow, but our obedience to them is not what guarantees our adoption into His family. It is the perfect work and obedience of Christ. We can never be justified by the things we do, or promise to do.

In conclusion, let me give you two things to meditate upon that will help you understand your freedom in Christ.

1. If you have turned from trusting in your own works, you already have eternal life. You have already been forgiven based upon the death of Christ on the cross.

2. We are no longer slaves, but sons. No one is allowed to command our conscience except for Christ through the Holy Spirit. Forget all the "house rules" of the local church. If it is not forbidden in Scripture, and the Spirit does not convict you of being in sin, you have the freedom to participate in the things you choose."

So, while I am a Christain, and one that follows the Bible, my recent post was not a breach or confusion of faith, but a freedom to talk about common interests. Perhaps the subjectmatter was a somewhat bravado expression of that freedom, but, as a BL's we life life on the edge anyway. It's unfortunate, but true. I tend to think of that life as then as an adventurous one, rather than a hellish one. It probably would be latter for me, though, without faith.

In Him,
Dunston

PS: I'm going to visit my family this weekend. I'll reply to your respose to this, if any, next week. Hope your weekend is pleasent as well.
