| Are a gloss on the underlying laws in the Old Testament about marriage and divorce; in that context it is clear that Jesus is teaching the indissoluability of marriage. The Old Testament law about sexual relations outside marriage allows for one of two outcomes - the death of one or both of the participants, or their PERMANENT marriage (no divorce option).
