Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her' (I Cor 6 v16) The Old Testament, quoted by Jesus in his teaching about divorce, refers to a man and woman in marriage becoming one flesh. Paul here is teaching that even a casual sexual encounter with a prostitute equally causes the creation of 'one body'. 'Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside hgis body; but the immoral man sins against his body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God. You are not your own; you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body' I Cor 6 v 17-20 |
