DIRK --

Sadly, all too often others think of the USA as a totally "Christian" country, and we aren't. It really goes back to the D of I - July 4, 1776. The D/I (Declaration of Independence) was actually based on Scripture--not that I know what verses. So then they decide to put "In God We Trust" on our quarters, which gives a strong impression of a Christian country.

I know what you mean, Dirk, about your African friend. My dad's former boss died of a heart attack a few years ago. At the Catholic funeral service, a co-worker was talking to my dad and he said, "Oh. I thought all Americans were Christians."

(Another misconception is that a lot of Asians think Americans are rich, fat, white people who eat nothing but hamburgers!)

In Christ,
