Yes, I see that in myself; all my friendships are with people who at least started out significantly older or younger, in some way, although now after many years some of them are no longer operating in the same way; at least three friends who were 'younger' when I first got to know them I now find I relate to as 'older'; which probably proves that the categorisation is unhelpful! BUT it is still real in my approach to others when I first get to know them - which is probably a bad thing.... Thank you for making me think!! |
