I've been discovering much the same thing you have and, as you say, it does work. Indeed, God's word has (or is) the power to create. God said X, and there was X. And the spirit breathes life, in ways we may never suspect. Prayer too is important, probably critical in being open to God creative and life-giving powers. We know Jesus prayed a lot. Ever thought about what his prayer was like? It's hard for me to imagine that it consisted of a series of requests for this, that, and the other. Rather, I imagine it consisted of discovering his identity and mission, in uniting his will with that of the Father. ---Ford |
