no real grave secrets there, though I might like to play as it if were otherwise. I've grown up with the conservative teaching that homosexuality is wrong, but have developed serious doubts as to the validity of that teaching. So I have taken to time to listen to the reasons why some Christians are pro-gay and support homosexuality, and some day I will have to come to a conclusion of which side I ultimately agree with. But although I see a good deal of sense in the pro-gay arguments, the step of aligning with them and formally renouncing the conservative teachings almost seems a step too formidable to make. It would break my whole social support structure, for one thing. It requires a great deal of rethinking through dearly held assumptions, among them the validity of evangelicaldom's "Sola Scriptura". Hope that makes things a little...er....clearer :) Fod |
