"The issue for us boylovers is the degree to which we are
1) Called to make God our primary relationship in the same way
2) In danger of allowing our relationship with our YF to become the primary relationship that it should not be."

This has been the hardest lesson of all for me to learn (if in fact I've actually learned it). I've seen several wonderful relationships go to ruin because I expected the YF to provide what only God could. The reason I think it's so easy to go this way is that each person provides a glimpse of God's love......the love we so earnestly seek. Seeing that glimpse, we can try to seize it as though it were the only chance we'd ever have. That's when things start to go bad.

For me, I'm finding that by having many YF's of varying degrees of closeness, I'm less likely to make that mistake. Each of them gives me a different glimpse of God's love. It's more like viewing an entire mosaic rather than concentrating on one particulary attractive piece. And it allows me to become part of the mosaic for more people than I would otherwise.
