Naturally there was much more to this story than I knew. I was only 9 when I left Rosemead. I did return for brief periods between the ages of 11 and 13. I actually only knew what I experienced, but I did believe my relatives. John Kemp was a very simple man who only loved children, beautiful flowers, and animals. He never expressed hatred toward anyone in my presence. I don't know anyone who accused of him doing a single bad thing. But only my grandmother informed me about things; and I have stated her opinion in good faith based upon the fact that I could verify most of what she told me. I stood firm in my belief in God. When I thought of a child having sex with Mr. Kemp, it made me feel kind of sick in the stomich. But I just shoved that information aside and loved him just like all the other kids. Since I had no interest in doing sex with him, it just seemed to be none of my business. The childen who did come to Mr. Kemp's home were all from disfunctional families, including myself. He never fed us or gave us any money or treats. He just let us come and go at will, and have the free run of his back yard. When he got a televeion, it was on all the time and was very popular with the kids. I only dropped by a couple times after he got his television. I just had other things to do after that. |
