"ps I've heard it said that "hell" is in fact a passing place of sadness, that the eternal state for nonbelievers is oblivion, not pain. eg look at Rev 21, with even Hades being thrown into the Lake of Fire to be no more." Indeed. For a long time now I've thought of Hell as being temporary. Rev 21 certainly seems to suggest this to me. Some Jehova's Witnesses then told me they consider "hell" to be a bad translation, the real meaning of which is "common grave" or land burial. When that definition is considered in the context of "the sea gave up her dead" and "hell gave up her dead", the whole thing makes more sense. I now see that passage as saying "the dead came back to life". Peace be with you Rex Infinity |
