Since no one else has taken up the challenge.... The word sick is an interesting one. As commonly used today, it really means in common parlance 'evil' - although that is a term that is not in practice acceptable. It's core meaning is related to 'diseased' - are we suffering as a result of being 'dis-eased' i.e. not at ease. Well - we are clearly not at ease as a result of being boylovers - hiding in corners and pretending to be normal. Sadly there is little evidence of there being an easy cure - although my own experience offers some help - so as with many chronic illnesses there is no healing in prospect. Instead it is a case of living with the situation to the best of our ability. And this disease means that we are not as God would have us which is the definition of God (well, at least I think so). To be PROUD to be a boylover is thus the same as being proud to be deaf, blind, dumb, etc. Whilst there are people who attempt this - I'm particularly aware of this in the deaf community - I don't believe it for a minute; it is a denial of the core Judeo-Christian belief that the good God created a good world which the sin of man has messed up. I believe that the normal, 'good' pattern is life marriage of a man and a woman, as propounded by Jesus in his attack on divorce. That's a pattern that most of us can't begin to understand or buy into - and so we are disabled from the good way of living that God provides; in seeing it on a level with deafness and blindness also has the advantage of removing any grounds for blame, which can be helpful. Hope that stirs up some responses - things were kind of quiet this weekend! |
