Hi Heather, I have visited quite a few denominational churches of differant types throughout my Christian life. I have "belonged" to only two...Catholic (when I was a boy growing up) and Baptist (about three years ago I joined a Baptist Church). However, I do not see any importance to "belonging" to ANY one denomination now. I feel free to visit any church. Just a short time ago, I didn't feel like visiting a church at all...but this has changed, praise God!!! The way I see it, God did not come to earth a second time to establish a bunch of differant denominational churches, with man-made rules and regulations. His chosen people had already tried that, and it had always failed. No, I believe God had something else in mind entirely. Jesus came to us, not only to establish our salvation, but to establish the TRUE Kingdom of God. And THAT Kingdom exists, through the Holy Spirit, in the hearts of His chosen people (or His children) now!!! And I truly believe that it is THAT Kingdom, the Kingdom WITHIN the hearts of His Children, that is the one and ONLY true Kingdom of God!!! Of course, man isn't really interested in a spiritual Kingdom of the heart, man always wants to try to do things HIS way...like set up churches of different kinds and types, complete with man-made rules and such. And you know what? It didn't work for the Jews of old (God's chosen people...I'm never quite sure what word to use, "Jews" or "Hebrews" or...I don't know. It's not too important I guess.), and so it certainly won't work for anyone now. His Kingdom, therefore, is not of this world, but it IS a SPIRITUAL Kingdom of the heart!!! Anyway, I guess I got carried away. It's so good to hear from you again, Heather. God loves you....and so do I, because I see Him in you so well!!! God Bless!!! Love in Christ Jesus, Chris |
